RUSTIC CALIFORNIAN PARK WEDDING: CASEY & CAITLIN

January 21, 2013

Casey & Caitlin were married at Dos Picos Park in Ramona, CA. They wanted their wedding to be laid back, fun, but most of all very ‘them’.
“My inspiration was to keep things very us”, began the bride. “Well actually, our theme was 100% Caitlin, with a splash of Casey thrown in here and there! I have been to weddings that are gorgeous and looked at hundreds on blogs and in magazines when looking for inspiration for our wedding. I have liked many of the things I’ve seen, but none of them were really right.”

“I am never one to follow a crowd, and neither is my husband. When I think about what I love and what I like, I don’t want to compromise for tradition or because someone tells me it can not be done. I want things to mean something to me, just like my tattoos. I don’t pick something out of the air because it looks cool.”

A LAKESIDE

LAKESIDE POLISH WEDDING: MARTYNA & PIOTR

Ican’t remember featuring a Polish wedding on my blog before, but if this is the kind of standards they’re setting, then I seriously should be posting more of them! There’s so much wedding gorgeousness in these images I can hardly contain myself.
Martyna & Piotr were married in Warsaw. The ceremony was held at Jablonna Palace and the reception was at U Różyca, a private farm just outside of the city and right by Lake Zegrzynski. The reception was basically one big party! Laid back, unpretentious and with everyone pitching in to help.

The bride wore a daring but beautiful short dress byBizuu and shoes by Aga Prus (she changed into Melissa sandals for dancing!) Her style was quirky yet timeless, elegant yet adventurous – and I for one can’t get enough of it. The pink sash with her bold bouquet is perfection and the giant floral hair wreath that she wore late into the evening added even more fun.

The VINTAGE

VINTAGE WEDDING AT THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY: SARAH & PAUL

Sarah & Paul and were married in September at the royal observatory - Queen’s House in Greenwich. They went for a English vintage theme with a twist. It reflected the things they love in their everyday lives.

“The wedding theme was English vintage as I am big into my vintage clothing and music so things needed to be pretty but with an eccentric twist”, wrote the bride. “I didn’t want it to be a Cath Kidston wet dream and neither did I feel that an out-and-out rocking festival would have suited us so we went for something in between! I love typography and so that was instantly worked into our invites and other paper goods (I made the majority using pretty parchment card and downloading fonts from the internet).”

COLOURFUL THINGS

COLOURFUL COLUMBUS WEDDING: KATIE & RICHARD

January 25, 2013

Katie & Richard were married at The Venue at Smith Brothers in Columbus. Their wedding was bright, colourful (just check out that awesome bridal party!) but most of all lots and lots of fun.
“We wanted a fun and bright wedding”, began the bride. “We love great Rock n Roll music and the classic style of the 50s but we didn’t really have a ‘theme’. We just picked a color we both liked and one that went really well with our choice of flowers and music.”

“The whole thing it turned out pretty great but our first dance was one of my favorite bits. We danced to a song that I put in a playlist for our first year together – ‘This will be our year’ by the Zombies. Dancing with my husband for the first time was amazing, and it felt unreal.”
“We made our own table numbers out out of some invitations that we had left over. They turned out amazing. My husband also made our rad card box which was a hand crank!”

The Butterfly Wedding

BUTTERFLY WEDDING IN LITHUANIA: IRMA & GEDIMINAS

January 28, 2013

If I’m completely honest, butterfly themed wedding ’stuff’ has been getting a bad rep for years. I’m thinking putrid paper escort card cut-outs that you hang on your wine glass (why?!), table confetti and budget wedding invitations in an assortment of sickly sweet colours… But Irma & Gediminas’ butterfly themed wedding is nothing like any of that. In fact they took butterfly overload and make it damn cool again. For starters, Irma’s dress by Agne Kuzmickaite is astoundingly beautiful. She even had a short version made for dancing late into the night and a cute matching outfit for her daughter.

The Lithuanian couple were married at Lithuanian Martyrs Church in Berciunai country. The reception was held at Bistrampolis Manor. “We had a civil marriage a couple years ago so we’ve technically been married for a while”, writes the bride, “but being party people we decided to arrange a big celebration for our relatives and friends. The whole wedding theme was based around my dress. When we began planning this party, I saw my dress on TV and knew I had to have it. It was an impulse buy, but became the whole focus of the entire theme, which we called ‘crazy dark butterflies’.”

Wedding Fair

Let’s be honest, there are A LOT of wedding fairs to choose from these days. In fact British brides & grooms have never had so much choice. Which is clearly awesome, but let’s be honest, it can be quite confusing. How on earth are you supposed to know which ones are the best and which ones to actually go to? Aren’t they all the same anyway?

Well today I’m here to share with you just one of the shows that I think you should check out. I went along last year (and judged an award!) and I can hand-on-my-heart say that The Most Curious Wedding Fair is one of the goodies. If you like all things vintage – but with a twist – then this is the fair for you. Think less cute mismatched crockery, cupcakes and bunting and more quirky, awesome and almost slightly weird (but certainly wonderful) wedding ideas. High fashion inspiration sits with ideas you didn’t even know existed, and the fashion show is more of a modern dance performance than anything else – something hugely influenced by artist and set designer Gemma Goodwin joining the Most Curious events team in 2011.

Fun Wedding Photo Frames

This is a beautiful feature in any wedding and can be created to match the décor and theme. It’s a perfect photo opportunity and a wonderful chance to create some fun and hilarious memories. Here is how to create the fun wedding photo frames.

The Wall
For the wall, you’ll simply need a few sheets of plywood and a small frame as well as a brace so the “wall” will stand on it’s own. Then, select large, ornate frames – you can find these at thrift stores and yard sells around dated art – and cut out holes in the wall at different heights that are slightly smaller than the frame

Decorating
Hang the frames around the holes and then either wall paper the wall or paint it. You’ll probably want to paint the frames as well. Make sure you create the wall to look like your theme. So, if you have a Victorian theme, you may want to do wainscoting on the wall, and use highly decorative wall paper as well as fancy golden frames.

Pictures
To utilize the wall, guests just step behind the wall and put their faces into the frames so pictures can be taken. There are lots of fun combinations; take pictures of the bridesmaids, the parents of the couple, the grandparents, the bride and groom themselves. It’s a wonderful opportunity to have fun and make memories.

Tips
When building and painting the wall, make sure it’s done completely outdoors. The wall should stay outdoors but can be covered with a portable canopy to reduce the sun and heat if you’re having a summer wedding.
